The Biking Life, and Other Silliness

We've been biking more and more lately - Jesse has been all month, mainly getting to school and back, and I just started getting into it. It is very liberating and refreshing to have another quick, convenient, and free transportation method to add to walking, bussing, and streetcar-ing. The other night we rode over to our friend Anni's house for dinner:

Stopping on the Broadway Bridge for documentation.

The other half of the nerdiest couple I know.

Speaking of nerdosity, we went to a literary birthday party (which was AWESOME, by the way) for our friend Bex, and we were instructed to dress up as our favorite author or literary character. Jesse's favorite author is G.K. Chesterton, who was apparently quite portly.

Jesse stuffed his shirt AND his pants. I mean, he already has a respectably substantial butt, but with the pillows...wow.

On the way over to Bex's, the moon over the train station looked very pretty.

The last few days have been hot and muggy so we spent a few nights out on the porch - so cozy and fun!

Grayland, WA

The other weekend we took a quick trip up to the coast in Washington to hang out with my mom and her friend for a day. It took a lot longer to get there than expected, but it was worth it. We played on the beach, watched a movie, made pancakes, played Nertz, and talked about art - just what beach cabins are made for!

The ocean is cool.

Stop taking pictures and come play frisbee with me!

Stacie using the drive home to get ready for her hot date that night.

Yay, driving is fun...

At least the view was pretty.

We were behind these people for a long time - it was a great day for a convertible!

Back in P-Town

Our first day back in Portland we came across this while walking home from Sunday brunch.

Sara, Jesse's mom Becky, and her husband Mack helped us unwrap and catalog this mound of wedding gifts!

Waiting for the bus...

The fountains outside Keller Auditorium where we went to see Phantom of the Opera for Jesse's birthday. This photo taken courtesy of the self-timer and a public trash can come tripod.

Last Wednesday, we decided to go on a little roller-blading journey (always bound to be an adventure) and our first stop was our very surprised friend Lanai's apartment. Her polished cement floors are perfect for wheelbound citizens.

The other side of the railroad tracks.

Making an example of myself: A warning to those of you who, like me, don't really love getting your picture taken and respond by acting silly/awkward/ retarded/ugly when the camera approaches- all that does is yield pictures like this one. It would have been better to just pose and smile...

Honeymoon

A seagull on the ferry from Edmonds to the peninsula.

Hiking in the Olympics.

The Hall of Mosses in the Hoh Rain Forest.
Ha ha, the Hoh Rain Forest. Funny name.

Hiding from the rain at Ruby Beach in a driftwood shelter.

Sol Duc Hot Springs. Mmmmm, sulfur.

Driving home along Lake Crescent - it was finally sunny the last day!

Ignorance Was Bliss

That is, until Stacie kindly pointed out that that slug was not giving birth after all. I'll spare you further details here, but for those interested in the sicktastic truth, proceed at your own risk...

For Your Convenience:

Unparalleled brilliance available here.

The Wedding

...was great! Besides the blazing heat, it was a wonderful day to celebrate while being surrounded by so many dearly loved family members and friends.

The photographer put a few pictures up here, with more to come.

Krista took this picture, along with many others:

Nature

When I arrived at my mom's house a week before the wedding, nobody was home, but I was greeted by this alarming sight:

At first I thought it was just a random, dangling porch decoration of some sort, until I looked further and realized there was a slug wrapped around it. The real horror set in when I discovered that the whole thing was a slug, hanging from its own slime, GIVING BIRTH TO ANOTHER SLUG. Stretching, twisting, writhing: revolting.

Here's some video. Please disregard my dad's undeterred commentary on the political situation in Georgia:
